Florian Alt is a Full Professor of Media Informatics at LMU Munich, Germany. His research lies at the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI) and IT security, with a focus on designing secure user interfaces that seamlessly align with the way people naturally interact with digital systems. In particular, he explores behavior- and physiology-based security mechanisms, user interfaces that promote more secure behavior, and novel interventions against human-centered attacks. Florian has co-authored over 300 publications, many appearing in top-tier venues such as ACM SIGCHI, PACM IMWUT, ACM UIST, and SOUPS. An active member of the scientific community, he serves on the steering committees of ACM MobileHCI and MUM, is General Chair of ACM MobileHCI 2025, and has previously taken on leadership roles as Paper Chair for ACM ISS (2023 & 2024), TPC Chair for Mensch und Computer (2020 & 2023), and Subcommittee Chair for CHI (2020 & 2021). He also serves on the editorial boards of ACM ToCHI and IEEE Pervasive Computing. Florian holds a Diploma in Media Informatics from LMU Munich and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Stuttgart.

Florian Alt is a Full Professor of Media Informatics at LMU Munich. His work sits at the intersection of human-computer interaction and IT security, focusing on creating secure yet user‐friendly interfaces that integrate seamlessly with how we interact with modern computing devices. Key research areas include behavior- and physiology-based security mechanisms, user interfaces that promote more secure behavior, and novel interventions against human-centered attacks.
Before joining LMU, Florian was a Full Professor and Head of the Usable Security and Privacy Group at the Research Institute for Cyber Defense (CODE) of the Bundeswehr University, Munich. Earlier in his career, he served as an Assistant Professor at LMU, led the Ubiquitous Interactive Systems Group in that role, and worked in industry as a web developer at Avid Technologies / Pinnacle Systems Inc. in Mountain View (USA) and as an IT specialist for Schreiner Medipharm LP in New York (USA).
Florian has co‐authored over 300 publications, many in premier venues such as ACM SIGCHI, PACM IMWUT, ACM UIST, and SOUPS. He is a frequently invited Program Committee and Associate Chair member for top venues (e.g., CHI, SOUPS) and has been instrumental in steering the community by serving as General Chair of MobileHCI 2025 and MUM 2018. He led several program committees, among others, as Paper Chair for ACM ISS (2023 & 2024), TPC Chair for Mensch und Computer (2020 & 2023), and Subcommittee Chair for CHI (2020 & 2021).
