Florian Alt is a Full Professor of Media Informatics at LMU Munich, whose research focuses on designing secure and privacy-preserving systems that integrate seamlessly into everyday user interactions. He investigates user behavior (behavioral biometrics), physiological signals (physiological security), and emerging threats in ubiquitous computing (ubiquitous security), with applications in areas such as smart homes, authentication, and Mixed Reality.
Florian is actively involved in leading HCI conferences and journals—serving as Program Chair of ACM ISS 2023 and 2024, and previously chairing subcommittees for CHI and Mensch und Computer among others. He has received a 2022 Test of Time Award from ACM Multimedia, earned more than 15 Best Paper/Honorable Mention distinctions, and secured funding from prominent institutions (DFG, DAAD, Google, BMW, etc.).
Prior to LMU, Florian held a Full Professorship at the CODE Research Center for Cyber Defense and gained industry experience as a web developer and IT specialist. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Stuttgart and a diploma in Media Informatics from LMU Munich.
